Sometimes, I come across things that may seem more like toys than games. But what is a digital toy, if not, a simple game? Interactive Painting Thing by Angela He is a wonderful toy well worth a few minutes to check out.
Interactive Painting Thing is a little browser-based space where you can drag a paintbrush around with your mouse. Slowly, it will follow, leaving colorful circles on the screen in a trail to where you have left it. This paint changes as you move, showing off a really lovely rainbow across the screen. The paint does slowly fade, showing more of what’s behind her the background artist as she waits.
Along with the freedom to paint, you almost act as a mirror to the artist, seeing their paint-covered face and concentrated stare.
Interactive Painting Thing is stunning and simply joyous to play around with for a few moments. Sometimes, we just need a simple thing that is well-executed to brighten up our day.
